About the Artist
Heiko Katins Art
Heiko Katins has spent the better part of three decades living at the intersection of fine art, commerce, and craftsmanship. His photography focuses on three core subjects: landscapes, still life, and skies — always searching for the light, mood, and moment that transforms a scene into something worth hanging on a wall. After an early introduction to the art world while supporting a professional photography studio during his economics studies in Germany, Heiko went on to build one of the most hands-on careers in the fine art business. He founded and operated ART 2 art Inc, running three galleries across Las Vegas and Los Angeles — spaces totaling over 2,500 square feet — where he managed everything from artist relations and curation to in-house printing and framing. Doing his own printing was never just a practical decision; it was a creative one, giving him full control over color, medium, and finish. During nearly two decades living and working across Asia, Heiko immersed himself in diverse artistic traditions and ran fine art manufacturing and distribution operations that supplied galleries and collectors across the US and Europe. This period deepened his appreciation for craft, precision, and the global art market. Today, Heiko is focused on sharing his photographic vision through ARTDistrictUSA.com — a platform he knows well, having been part of the fine art marketplace world from both sides of the wall.

“Heiko Katins is a fine art photographer, whose work spans three decades of searching for the light, mood, and moment that transforms a scene into something worth hanging on a wall. His lens finds its home in three subjects: landscapes, still life, and skies — each image a quiet study in atmosphere and presence. A gallery owner, printer, curator, and collector's advisor, Heiko brings rare depth to his photography. He does not simply capture images — he sees them through to the wall, controlling color, medium, and finish with the same precision he applied running over 25,000 square feet of gallery space in Las Vegas and Los Angeles. His years managing fine art operations across Asia further sharpened an eye trained to see beyond the frame. Commission artwork is available. Heiko works directly with collectors to create pieces tailored to their space, palette, and vision.”
The Process
Inside the Studio
The Painting Process
Photography, for Heiko, has always been a pursuit of light before it disappears. Whether working in open landscapes, constructing a still life arrangement, or waiting for the sky to do something unrepeatable, the process begins long before the shutter — in observation, patience, and an understanding of how light changes everything it touches. Post-capture, Heiko's background in professional printing shapes every decision. He manages his own output, calibrating color profiles, selecting substrates, and controlling finish to match the mood of the original scene. It is a workflow built over decades — part darkroom discipline, part gallery-trained eye — and it shows in every piece that reaches a collector's wall. Commission work follows the same process, beginning with a conversation about the space, the light in the room, and what the collector wants to feel when they look up.
